Chimney Services

Chimney Sweepers LLC in White Plains, NY, is a comprehensive chimney sweeping practice providing a wide range of services for over 20 years.

Chimney Cleaning

Our highly skilled chimney technicians remove creosote and soot buildup, maximizing fireplace airflow and indoor air quality, while reducing the risk of chimney fires and carbon monoxide issues.

Chimney Inspections

Inspection is an essential service for every home or business with a chimney. Even if the chimney does not experience regular use, periodic inspections are a must. Inspections allow a professional to check your chimney’s condition, construction, and safety and recommend further services.

Fireplace Restorations

Restoring your home or office fireplace can improve its appearance and function. Restoring a fireplace when remodeling or selling a property can add significantly to your property’s value.

Wood Stove Inserts

Wood stove inserts can be installed inside a residential or commercial fireplace. Fireplaces with inserts are safer, cleaner, and more efficient than traditional open fireplaces.

Exhaust & Venting

The venting system for a chimney is one of its most important components. The key element of a chimney venting system is a flue or a passage that goes up from the firebox to the chimney’s exit at the top.

Emergency Chimney Services

An emergency chimney service cannot wait for a regularly scheduled appointment. Chimney emergencies often involve blockages, damaged liners, and carbon monoxide leaks.

Chimney Repairs

Regular chimney inspections can reveal hidden problems and reduce overall repair costs. We can inspect, repair, and rebuild damaged brick or masonry chimneys and fireboxes.

Chimney Installations

We can install new chimneys, wood and gas stoves, dampers, chimney caps, and fireplace glass doors. We can also handle your waterproofing and copper flashing needs.

Gas Fireplaces

We install gas fireplaces in your home. We can also retrofit an existing fireplace to accommodate a gas system.

Your Chimney Contractor, Since 2000

We are a complete Chimney Contractor offering services such as chimney sweeping and maintenance, wood-burning stove insert installations, residential and commercial chimney services, exhaust and venting, fireplace restorations and repairs, chimney video inspections, gas fireplace installation and maintenance, dryer vent cleaning, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Chimney Services

It takes only a small accumulation of creosote glazing to create the potential for a chimney fire. Creosote is a highly flammable substance that builds up inside your chimney or liner as a result of burning wood. The rate of accumulation can be higher if you practice poor burning practices or have a burning appliance or stove that is not working well. Different types of wood create different amounts of creosote when burned. Pine causes a rapid build-up of creosote and should be avoided as a regular source of wood. Creosote can also reduce the draw of the fireplace and reduce efficiency.

To ensure that everything is working in order and operating as it should, we recommend that homeowners get their chimneys inspected annually. For the most part, homeowners opt to have their chimneys swept yearly as well, especially if they use their fireplaces regularly. Fireplace, stove, furnace and heating appliance systems are important to your home and family’s safety and not an area to neglect or cut corners on. Don’t risk the chance that an undiscovered defect could turn into an expensive repair or even worse – a chimney fire.

If you rarely use your fireplace or stove, we still advise looking at all heating venting systems, chimneys, stove systems, and furnace flues. There may be some defects or issues that could be found that require attention, even if cleaning isn’t needed.

-If you haven’t had your chimney inspected in a year or more
-If you are having any performance issues with your chimney, fireplace, or heating system
-If you have recently purchased/moved into the home

DON’T WAIT! Almost always, waiting results in additional repairs and sometimes even property loss.

Another important time to get your venting systems inspected is when you have upgraded or changed heating systems or added a stove or insert. An inspection will make sure that your chimney, lining and venting systems are adequate and in working order to handle the new changes.
If you have not used your fireplace in a long time, pests may have built nests that could clog your flue or chimney chamber. Winter freeze cycles and moisture combine to take an annual toll on masonry and liner materials too. Over several years the deterioration will eventually require attention. Normal wear and tear that is left unchecked will affect the performance of your system. The longer the defects go without being addressed, the more expensive repairs are likely to be. Bottom line is – staying on top of your systems is not only the smartest and safest choice, it ends up being the most cost-effective too.

According to the NFPA Chimney flue should be swept and inspection annually. You may need to have a sweeping twice a year depending what you are burning. The best wood is left to dry for 8-12 months

The CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) says that fireplaces should be cleaned when 1/8″ of sooty buildup is evident inside the chimney and flue system. If any glaze is appearing in the flue, cleaning should be done even if there is less than 1/8″ of buildup. Any time an appreciable accumulation of soot and creosote occurs it can be enough to fuel a chimney fire that may damage the chimney and even spread to the roof and home. Furnace flue systems also require cleaning, so don’t neglect regular cleaning of those venting systems. Some heavy use fireplaces produce an incredible amount of soot and creosote during a cleaning.

Ideally, before the start of the burning season during the spring, summer or early fall is a great time to get your chimney inspection and / or chimney cleaning. Before you think about building a fire or starting up your furnace because the weather has changed, is the time to call your chimney sweep. Maybe you forgot the early cleaning before starting to use the fireplace, stove or furnace? Don’t wait until the fall, we can do your chimney cleaning or inspection any time of year. Testimonials

We can’t say enough good things about Chimney Sweepers and his owner Claudio. They have performed excellent work repeatedly in all multiple areas relating to renovations. They are dependable, they keep on meeting all the deadlines (well, actually ahead of deadlines) and are cost effective (also never ran ahead of budget). But most importantly, Claudio has ideas and creativity about how to solve problems and the end product is always great. We are extremely happy and will continue to use them in the future.

-Alex C., Port Chester, NY

I recommend Chimney Sweepers LLC without any reservation.  The company headed by Claudio Zhinin has done a number of renovation jobs for me over several years, both in my home and professional office building.  The work was always done excellently, professionally and without delay.

- D. Fields., Greenwich, CT

Our fireplace is VERY old, and they did a terrific job cleaning, inspecting, and offering us a quote. There is a lot of work to be done, but we hope to have them back in the fall. I was so impressed with their equipment, and especially with how clean everything was from start to finish. They used a diagram to illustrate their work as they went, and I really felt involved with the entire process. Jenni from their office has been communicating with me since we started this months ago, and her attention to detail is remarkable. The men who came to do the work were just as professional and impressive. I really hope we will be able to use them again soon.

- Jodi L., Bedford, NY
